![]() He’s a tough to handle down low for almost any defender. Their centers, Jermaine O’Neal, Marcus Camby, Erick Dampier and Lorenzen Wright are some of the best defenders in the game but O’Neal is the only one with a real offensive game to speak of.Īs for Shareef Abdur-Rahim, he’s one player who should have been on more All-Star games based on his stats. The other guards are just as tough in Stephon Marbury, Kerry Kittles, and Derek Fisher. Then, you have Ray Allen, owner of the most number of three-pointers in league history, coming off the bench. He’s also one of the purist, most creative point guards to have ever played. Nash is a two-time MVP who can ignite their fast break, an incredible play maker, and a deadly shooter all the way to the three-point line. Allen Iverson is perhaps the greatest small man to ever play in the NBA, a league MVP who won the scoring crown four times and the steals title three times. Kobe is one of the 10 best players in history, someone who was capable of taking over a game at any given time and playing stingy defense on any guard or small forward. ![]() This was a draft that gave rise to 21st century basketball. Let’s look at why they’re one of the best. The 1985 class would eat them alive! The only hope for the 1996 class is if their guards run the 1985 class’ guards to the ground.īut enough about why they are only in the number four spot. Just look at how thin that frontcourt bench is. While the awards and accomplishments of many in this class are numerous, and they have some of the best to ever play the game, including a couple of MVPs in Kobe, Nash, and Iverson, I just don’t see them winning a best-of-seven against the next one on this list, the 1985 class. That’s ok because he can play that position well.īut many of you are crying foul now, aren’t you? Yes, I’ve seen some people’s lists and there are those who would rank the 1996 class as the number one draft class of all time. Ok, I had to cheat a little to get Iverson and Nash in the starting lineup at the same time by making Bryant my starting small forward. G – Ray Allen, Stephon Marbury, Kerry Kittles, Derek Fisher Then you have Ken Norman who can ably fill in for Pippen off the bench.Īs good as they are, though, this team isn’t good enough to beat any of the four teams ahead of it in a seven-game playoff series. Olden Polynice and Armen Gilliam are not bad for a back-up tandem as both players were starters for different teams during their best years. Then you’ve got Sarunas Marciulionis as your back up two along with Reggie Lewis and Reggie Williams who can both slide into this position as well. The strength of this team is in its backcourt where you’ve got point guards galore with Mark Jackson, Kenny Smith, and Muggsy Bogues. ![]() You’ve got Hall-of-Famer Reggie Miller who is one of the best shooters in history, and then Kevin Johnson, a fiery point guard who can take over a game with his passing, scoring, and leadership. The starting backcourt isn’t so bad either. In Robinson, Pippen, and Horace Grant, you’ve got a starting frontcourt that is a defensive beast. This class is deep and one of the deepest among the five. And I haven’t even mentioned his stats which are ridiculously incredible. Robinson alone can fill up a sheet of paper with his MVP, Defensive Player of the Year and All-NBA awards. G – Mark Jackson, Kenny Smith, Muggsy Bogues, Sarunas MarciulionisĪt number five, I have the 1987 class led by two top 50 players in David Robinson and Scottie Pippen. While III flirted with the idea of a more open approach to the franchise, the level of depth present in each area is kind of astounding. Speaking of maps, Sniper Elite 4’s are the biggest in the series. Do they keep scrambling for new vantage points? Do they fire off a shot only to lure Nazis into traps? Do they want to gun down the investigating troops with an assault rifle or shotgun? The choices aren’t endless, of course, but they are abundant, and make for some fun replays of maps. It’s up to them how to progress from there. Players take a shot, and if the sound isn’t masked, enemies begin to investigate their position. It’s easy to pick up and learn, but there’s plenty of room to learn how to take the perfect shot.įrom that simplification, though, springs a natural depth. There are fewer systems to worry about when looking down the sight and firing off a round here – it’s more arcade-esque, in line with something like Konami’s Silent Scope. Gone are the confusing “sniper nests,” the awkward “Ghost” system, the unclear detection by enemies found in III. It’s a tighter, pared-down version of the mechanics we’ve seen since V2, complete with monitoring Karl’s heart rate and holding breath for accuracy. Sniping in Sniper Elite 4 is one of the most satisfying mechanics in a video game, period. Yet that core gimmick is still great, and better here than ever before. In a series sold on one core gimmick, the variety here is kind of staggering, and undoubtedly impressive. Whether a player wants to lure Nazis into landmines, sneak up behind them with a silenced pistol, or simply engage them head-on, the gameplay holds up across every imaginable situation. Maneuvering Karl never feels clunky or awkward, whether he’s doing parkour, slitting throats, or holding his own in the middle of a firefight. While previous attempts at implementing gameplay other than “aim down a scope and splatter some brains/lungs/testicles” have yielded mixed results, those attempts are knocked out of the park here. Yet Rebellion, with over a decade of experience in this genre under their belt, has produced a mechanically sound game that offers players a wealth of variety and depth. In a post- Phantom Pain world, it’s an unenviable task to make a third-person stealth title. That said, Sniper Elite 4’s true strength lies not in its perfectly adequate narrative, but in its exceptional gameplay. Even if she is a side character, I wanted to see more of her, and found her to be one of the more memorable female characters as of late. ![]() ![]() ![]() She’s on the same playing field as all the male characters – gruff, resilient, and not sexualized. In an age where “strong female character” means “sexy and has a lot of daddy issues,” Sofia is a compelling snapshot of a woman in wartime. Also similar to that 2013 title is a surprising knack for female characterization, exemplified in Sofia, an Italian resistance leader. It’s a similar move to the route Wolfenstein: The New Order took, turning its archetype of a protagonist into something more nuanced and satisfying to take control of. These characters, while not deep by any stretch of the imagination, give Karl people to play off of, which in turn makes him a bit more of a compelling protagonist. There’s actually a supporting cast now, and not just a radio telling you what to do, or a solitary supporting character. Karl destroys top-secret weapons, uncovers artillery caches, assassinates key Nazi figures, and generally makes himself a thorn in the Third Reich’s side.īut it’s in how Karl accepts these tasks that differs from past entries. Players snipe, sneak, and stab their way through 1943 Italy, aiding a local resistance effort and enlisting the Mafia to push out the fascist regime. Yes, it’s still about Karl Fairburne acting as a one-man exterminator to a Nazi infestation, but the little bits and pieces surrounding that winning premise are more interesting than previous games. From a narrative standpoint, even, Rebellion has upped the ante a bit. That's a price point that's more commonly associated with four-hour titles or games sure to be seasoned later with DLC content offered through the purchase of a pass. While platform exclusives are generally a bad thing in my mind, SimCity is exclusive to Origin while Cities: Skylines is exclusive to the less-despised Steam platform. ![]() Sizeĭespite some players wanting even more map space, Cities: Skylines gives gamers much more room to work than the Sim City reboot. While the developer said it wouldn't officially support it, Colossal Order gave gamers the keys to adjust map size beyond the official limits. It allows those invested in the game to make it better, no matter which side of the fence they stand on.Įven before the game was released, Colossal Order opened the game up to deeper modification because that's what players wanted. They outlive their contemporaries that don't allow modding.Ĭities: Skylines' mod support, and Steam Workshop integration, is already helping to engage the game's community. Specific points of focus include city plot size, regional and social play, the intrusiveness of mods upon curated experiences, city design philosophies, and nuances of relationships between modding communities and community ambassadors. There's a common trait among the video games that are old and gray before they finally die. Listen to us whinge freely about the two games as we discuss how they compare. City-building games almost always cast us as little tin-pot tyrants, because autocracys more fun. SimCity was followed up by an expansion of its own, Cities of Tomorrow, which focused on developing cities vertically with modular arcologies connected to each other in the sky, a gameplay element we discuss and a sociological concept of infinite coolness. Sim City and Cities: Skylines know that democracy is boring. SC5 established greater goals and obstacles with mining of resources and management of supply chains all the way up through their contributions toward regional superproject goals like arcologies. SimCity 5, as we refer to it despite the existence of Societies, expanded on some of the interesting regional development ideas of 2003's SimCity 4 and its 2005 expansion, SimCity 4: Rush Hour. SimCity was a reboot of the SimCity franchise, a new take on what the 1989-spawned Will Wright classic was all about featuring a new spiffy rendering engine called Glassbox, social play across tiny towns, regional resource management, always-on DRM, and - relatedly - one of the most disastrous launches on record. The quantity of content here is on the level of Simtropolis in its prime, and we consider whether the game is all the richer for it, or whether it suffers from a lack of directive - a question that turns out to be larger than simply content. City-building games almost always cast us as little tin-pot tyrants, because autocracy's more fun. Three months after release, the Workshop has 45,000 items and ex-Maxis employees on Patreon earn $700 per building they post. Sim City and Cities: Skylines know that democracy is boring. We discuss the (relatively) recently-released Cities: Skylines, the first proper city simulator by Finnish studio Colossal Order (previously responsible for the similar but transit-scenario-focused Cities In Motion series), and in so doing we decided to compare & contrast with Maxis' final hurrah, its much-ballyhooed SimCity.Ĭities: Skylines is an open-ended city simulator designed in Unity from the ground-up to be moddable and fully support the Steam Workshop with everything from custom structures to camera mods and custom interfaces from cel-shaded graphics, new rendering engines, and color palette tweaks to R34 Skylines that drive about your cities. ![]() This week, we take a glance into two titles and one franchise highly revered by our host Nate. ![]() He encountered an error while attempting to save a record in Microsoft Access stating “you can’t save this record at this time”. Despite this printer’s heavy emphasis on photo-based technologies, photo printing is extremely sub-par, with horribly inaccurate reds when printed on photo paper. Text documents are accurate and readable, while graphical documents are in some ways better than those from the Colour LaserJet CP3505dn, proving to be slightly less saturated and much better for use with text that has a background colour. The inclusion of ImageRET 3600 - HP’s proprietary enhancement for 1200圆00 dots per inch hardware resolution - is certainly worthwhile, providing half-toned detail for mono printing and more vibrancy for colour printing. Thankfully, print quality does provide some consolation. Instead, users only have a photo fix and red eye removal option, once again highlighting the printer’s unusual focus on home photo printing rather than business. Though we’ve seen the benefits of this technology with the likes of the Colour LaserJet CP3505dn, this printer doesn’t possess the same digital image enhancement technologies. Unfortunately, any hopes of boosting speed by using a lower quality level were dashed: the CM1312nfi only offers the ImageRET 3600 resolution. Since the black toner is situated at the front of the tray rather than the back, the printer’s shortcomings impact on both mono and colour printing. ![]() This results in speeds of just 12.2 pages per minute for mono printing - with the first page out in 30 seconds - and an even slower 8.3ppm with first page out in 40.3 seconds for colour printing. Forcing paper to travel along a horizontal axis twice rather than vertically once means print speed is much slower. In doing this, the CM1312nfi retains the ability to use full-sized toners while cutting down on overall size.Īlthough the CM1312nfi’s toner tray design has obvious benefits in regards to space, it has implications when it comes to print speed. The other striking feature is the implementation of the printer's colour toners, which are placed horizontally in a single pull-out tray that is easily accessible via a front panel. Although this is a good idea in theory, it still requires removing the paper tray in order to reach the jam it made us wonder why HP didn’t use the precious real estate to add a higher-capacity paper tray instead. The CM1312nfi features a single paper tray that has an input capacity of 150 sheets, and an extra front door offers easy access in case of paper jams. The design isn’t revolutionary, but there are some aspects worth mentioning. The colour LCD also facilitates choosing photos and the printing method. Nevertheless, for those who like mixing business with pleasure, the memory card reader facilitates photo printing - made possible by the printer’s handling of paper up to 176gsm in thickness, rather than the standard 120gsm for laser printers. ![]() ![]() ![]() The memory card reader is an odd addition for a strictly business laser printer we would have preferred a secondary USB port for direct printing. It falls slightly short in not providing an automatic duplex unit but the CM1312nfi is certainly better value than its base model counterpart. In terms of hardware, the 'nfi' configuration involves a significant upgrade, with a bump in internal memory from 128MB to 160MB, an Ethernet port, fax capability, an automatic document feeder, a colour display and a memory card reader supporting MemoryStick, xD, SD, MMC and CompactFlash. The CM1312nfi is one of two configurations of HP’s CM1312 Printer series, with some improvements to justify the $300 price jump over the base model. ![]() San Remo Apartments is an apartment located in Travis County, the 78705 ZIP Code, and the Austin Independent School District attendance zone. ![]() ![]() Maybe they'll do something that we can copy later." Let's hear our good old Lemmy talk about this first, shall we? He is asked if he ever gets mad when finding out about a band that copies him. My favorite comments come from Lemmy and Alice Cooper. What I like about the interview segments in this film is the fact that they have opinions from both classic Metal artists like KISS, Ozzy Osbourne, Alice Cooper, Lemmy, etc. Also, the interview segments are equally focused on both bands and fans, while the first film focused more on the performing and band interviews. Although they use similar filming and editing techniques like interviewing Metal fans in a room with a single light bulb above their head or getting Lemmy to do an interview with the LA highway and the whole city as a background, what makes TDWC 2 different from the first one in terms of storytelling is that they focus more and more on interview segments than live performances.
